In these days of internet articles on every conceivable subject you have to wonder where some of the information comes from. I have just read an article with the title home remedy for acne scar removal, now this in itself does not worry me, however some of the remedies in my opinion verge on the ridiculous.
First of all when someone who is suffering from acne has had to endure painful acne spots either on their face or back and is left with residual scarring, the promise of acne scar removal from home may seem appealing, however if the remedy is based around rubbing baking soda on their face in the shower as an exfolient then washing with cider vinegar I think a teenager is entitled to feel more embarrassed about the smell of vinegar rather than the acne.
The second remedy recommended for acne scar removal at home was to apply a home made sandalwood mixture made from some medieval sounding recipe and then sleep with it on over night. On waking it is to be washed off with ice cold water, followed after a few hours with another wash in milk and a rub over with an ice cube, supposedly to tighten the pores. The next step is to apply cucumber juice and lastly rub a sliced tomato on before removing the black heads.
Now I don’t know about you but in these days of scientific research and a host of great acne remedies on the market, how many teenagers are going to turn to the refrigerator for help, or allow themselves to smell like a jar of pickled onions, in my experience none whatsoever.
My best advice is if you want to try acne scar removal listen to your peers at college or your place of work as the chances are they have been or are now going through the same skin worries that you are. Go to the drug store and take your time to read the packaging on the creams and topical acne treatments available over the counter.
Since we all know that having acne is stressful, I can empathize with the need for someone wanting to treat their scars in the privacy of their bathroom, however to follow these stupid suggestions make no sense and could leave an acne sufferer with more insecurity than they had in the first place.
It is paramount that if you are unsure on how to use an acne product to seek medical advice. I am sure that if a sensible attitude is adhered to the acne will take it’s course and will clear quickly.
