My father-in-law was a smart man; he would put these smelly things under his home every so often. The smell would go away after a couple of days. He didn’t have termites under there either. Every year he would put down lime in his garden and till it into the soil. His garden was always very clean of weeds, and he didn’t have to use a lot of chemicals to keep down the bugs. We always said that he had a green thumb.
He had old-fashioned bug zappers that were used at night by his back door, or he had some kind of trap in his garage where he worked all the time, almost to the time he passed. He will be missed. A lot of the remedies that we use today are the same ones that he taught us to do. He taught us what to do and what to use to put out this fire.
