In the past, you may have had a bad experience with email marketing. You may have failed to properly understand the process in its entirety; and, after a prolonged period of failure, you may have decided that email marketing wasn’t for you. Well, don’t feel bad. This happens to most marketers, but luckily, it can be resolved.
First of all, there’s something that bears mentioning, even if you’ve heard it before: email marketing works because it allows you to follow-up with your customers. Additionally, it allows you to lure in people who would never buy from you directly. Both of these things are good for your business.
Without further ado, let’s get started. And, in order to get started, you will have to create an account with some autoresponder service. You have a lot of options, but most of them are quite bad. I would choose between Aweber and GetResponse, both of which provide excellent services for low prices.
Next, start working on some type of email sequence. You could create a daily sequence, weekly sequence, bi-weekly sequence, etc. The goal of the email sequence should be to provide information in a way that hooks the list members and gives you the opportunity to sell new products.
After you finish writing out all of your emails, you will want to add them to your autoresponder. Additionally, you will want to set time periods between each email. This is up to your discretion, but I would highly suggest keeping the rate between 2-3 emails per week. Once you do that, all you’ll have to do is start recruiting list members.
How can you recruit list members? Start by setting up what’s called a “squeeze page.” This is a short page that includes a 1-paragraph (or bullet list) pitch and an opt-in form. Do your best to make your newsletter sound attractive in those few bullets, but remember to keep everything brief and to the point.
Next, figure out how to drive massive amounts of traffic to your squeeze page. You can always redirect current traffic to your squeeze page. You can also use target PPC campaigns, article marketing, blogging, etc. to drive traffic to your squeeze page. But whatever you do, start diverting traffic from your direct sales pages; and send it to your opt in form instead.
Once your autoresponder list gets to a healthy size, you’ll want to consider how you can optimize your sequence. You will want to think of things such as the following: 1) what is the optimal time period between pitches? 2) what is the optimal amount of emails to send out each week? And so on. The better you optimize these parameters, the more you’ll make.
Another thing to keep in mind is that you do not need to sell your own products. You can select between a wide range of Affiliate products and sell them through your list, too. In fact, one of the best ways to make money is to promote big product launches through your list.
If you followed all of the above steps carefully, you should have a high-quality email series that will help you to increase sales with little effort. Just remember to direct all of your traffic to your list, rather than your sales pages.
