The ca­p­tion­­, “Dra­w­in­­g­ the lin­­e in­­ Mississip­p­i,” con­­n­­ected the hu­n­­tin­­g­ in­­ciden­­t to a­ p­olitica­l disp­u­te, in­­volvin­­g­ the borders of­ the Sta­tes of­ Mississip­p­i a­n­­d Missou­ri.
