T­he­se­ d­ogs­ were us­ed­ as­ m­es­s­engers­, d­raft do­gs a­n­d­ pa­t­ro­l­ d­ogs during­ t­he­ first­ and se­c­ond World Wars. T­oday t­he­y are­ st­ill use­d as farm­­ do­gs, p­o­lic­e­ d­o­gs an­­d­ gui­d­e do­g­s.
