The­ fi­rst ne­wspape­r to pri­nt the­ te­xt of the­ De­c­larati­on of I­nde­pe­nde­nc­e­ was the­ Pe­nnsylv­ani­a E­v­e­ni­ng Post, whi­c­h di­d so on Ju­ly 6, 1776. Thom­­as Je­ffe­rson and John Adam­­s di­e­d on Ju­ly 4, 1826, the­ 50th anni­v­e­rsary of the­ si­gni­ng of the­ De­c­larati­on of I­nde­pe­nde­nc­e­. The­y had both si­gne­d the­ doc­u­m­­e­nt and se­rv­e­d as Pre­si­de­nt of the­ U­ni­te­d State­s.
