For older children, e-mail is a great way to keep in touch. Remember it’s all about keeping that connection with what is so familiar to them. Sadness is expected but keeping the lines of communication open always helps curb the emotional pain of moving away.
Compile favorite photographs from family and friends from the location you are leaving and plan to decorate a door in your child’s room with the photos. You can start a poster board of your favorite things and hobbies of what you used to do from where you once lived and have start a list of what you would like to accomplish where you are at now.
