When a pretty or stylish throw rug is placed strategically in front of a piece of furniture, like an occasional hall table or chair, it will lend a more decorated look and feel. When some people find a really beautiful throw rug, perhaps an old hand made one, will still hang it on a wall like was done many years ago.

Many times a throw rug is one of the first things a visitor will notice as they stand on one waiting for the door to be opened. This is why a nice doormat or throw rug is important here, but also to help keep tracked in dirt and debris to a minimum.
Using throw rugs in bathrooms and kitchens is very good to catch splashes of water from wetting the immediate area around sinks, showers, and bathtubs. They also provide that little extra decorative touch to these rooms as well.
